TAITRONICS BANGKOK was successfully held for the first time at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC) from July 27 to 30, 2006, and featured 202 electronics companies who used more than 302 booths to showcase their latest products. Famous Taiwan and Thai makers such as ACER, Armstrong, BenQ, Cal-Comp, CS Int’l Electronic, Dempo, EKARAT, E-Lead, Hamg Shing, Kinpo, KV Electronics and Tatung took center stage to heighten their profile across Thailand. According to the Thai media, TAITRONICS BANGKOK has recorded the largest B2B electronics industry trade show in Thailand.
It is believed that approximately 12,000 quality buyers visited 2006 TATITRONICS BANGKOK from 28 countries, most of who gave excellent show ratings in terms of overall impression; range of products and price of products. Around 8% of these visitors placed orders while 30.22% established contacts for further follow-up.
TAITRONICS BANGKOK 2006 opened a dazzling venue with such categories as Electronic Components, Consumer Electronics, Computer & Peripherals, Auto Electronics, Telecom, Networking & Wireless, Security System & Products, Electronic Manufacturing Equipment and Meters & Inspection Equipment.
This event was the first time TAITRA and TEEMA ever organized a show overseas and the success of TAITRONICS BANGKOK chalked up double success for the organizers in meeting its two objectives in assisting those in the industry to map out fresh opportunities across ASEAN and linking the markets and producers of the region.

Microsoft Thailand’s Managing Director Andrew McBean also projected an aggressive growth rate of 27 percent for the Microsoft Thailand business in 2007.
4. Opening Up
By January 2007 Thailand together with Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore will lift tariffs on most electronics products. ASEAN trade ministers endorsed a plan on August 22, 2006 to speed up the timetable for economic union by five years to 2015 since the market integration niche is quickly exposed.

1. Pre-show Press Conference
More than 60 journalists from the famous domestic media of Thailand like The Bangkok Post, The Nation, Reuters, Business Day, Channel 7 and Channel 11, and PC home attended the conference held on Tuesday, July 18. Acer, BenQ, Call-com and Tatung even sent high level executives to present their latest products at the conference.
2. Opening Ceremony
More than 250 attendees including those from the Thai governor such as Office of the Board of Investment (BOI), Thailand Convention & Exhibition of Member of the Executive Bureau (TCEB), Department of Export Promotion (DEP), The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), The Electrical Electronics and Allied Industries Club (EEI, FTI), and Thai Auto-Parts Manufacturers Association (TAPMA) all participated in the opening ceremony on Thursday, July 28 in the lobby of BITEC.
3. Big Biz Prospect Packed Procurement Meetings
During the show more than 200 business procurement meetings were successfully conducted with 29 targeted VIP Buyers from Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, UAE (Dubai), and USA including Sharp Corporation, SONY, Siemens, and Siemens VDO.
4. Taiwan Automotive Electronics Forum-Bangkok
The forum started with a briefing by Dr. Jet P.H. Shu, Deputy Director of Taiwan’s renowned Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) on current developments across the Taiwan auto electronics industry. It was followed by a discussion lead by Mr. Sathaporn Sealim, Manager of E-Lead (Thailand) and Dato P. Y. Lai, president of Action Electronics (Malaysia). Both offered insight on the industry. Last but not least, Mr. Hajime Yamamoto, senior consultant of Automotive Resource Asia Ltd, spoke on Thai Stanley Electronics and Thailand Denso, and examined how these firms successfully penetrated the Thai market. Famous players like SCANIA (Thailand), Toyota Bangna, Sathon Honda, and Samsung (Thailand) were all at the Forum.
5. Advanced Technology, Digitize New Life Seminar-Bangkok
The seminar was begun by Mr. C. Stone Shih, PH.D., CEO of DAWN TV Technology Corp, who spoke on recent DVB developments. It was followed by Mr. Charlie Lan, President of TATUNG (Thailand) Co., Ltd., who explored Digital New Life Concept – the Tatung way to Digital Home Solutions. Mr. Angus Robinson, Chief Executive of the Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (AEEMA) related how Australia is pioneering new consumer electronics for the global market. He stated that telematics will usher in a revolution in automation and highlighted such sectors as GPS, Blue tooth and car entertainment.
